Winzer’scher Garden on Johannisberg

The vineyard was designed as a show facility, which is not designed for the greatest possible yield of grapes or efficient cultivation methods such as those used in commercial viticulture, but for an attractive design that, seen from Kreuzstraße, should entice Bielefeld residents to take a walk in the garden . The third vine system is designed as a so-called "vine fan". The rows radiate from the entrance area up the slope of the Winzer'sches Garten. This gives the visitor the impression that he is already getting the all-encompassing overview of the garden from below. Viewed from the Sparrenburg, the Winzer`scher Garten appears as a vineyard and awakens holiday feelings when staying between the vines, the grotto and the romantic archway.

Great landscaped garden with some seating.

The fact that grapevines are found in the Winzer Garden is rather tongue-in-cheek. The mountain garden and villa actually once belonged to a Mr. Winzer. The garden and house fell into disrepair over time and were only recently converted into a park. It is therefore now literally a winegrower's garden.
