Hiking Highlight (Segment)
One has to make it clear: The oppidum on Donnersberg is poorly researched. Neither is known, why this attachment about 50 v. Chr. Was abandoned, still there are significant finds. Already in the Middle Ages on the high plateau, within the former Celtic settlement, the forest was cleared and used for agriculture. As a result, the traces of Celtic culture were blurred very early. The previous archaeological investigations were limited to the burials of the ramparts and the quadrangle hill. However, the reconstruction of the central wall has been well done, giving interested parties the structure of the facility. Who runs the entire ramparts (it was a new signage attached - as of October 2018), which meets two other reconstructions. There is not much to discover in Celtic culture in Oppidum (quadrilateral ski jump and slag wall). If you want to delve into the subject and experience experimental archeology, we recommend the Celtic village in the nearby Steinbach. More information: keltendorf-steinbach.de
