In 1891, the industrialist Eduard Jaunez bought the medieval Remelfingen Castle and converted it into a modern country estate. In 1912, the Reichseisenbahnen in Alsace-Lorraine bought the castle and had it demolished in order to be able to expand the shunting facilities at Remelfingen train station.
