The irony of this statue is that our royalist general is stripped of his Louis XVI costume, his wig and his tricorn to be presented bareheaded in revolutionary costume. The principle of a fanatical ideology is to rewrite history. Let us hope that one day France will open its eyes to the crimes and horrors of the revolution.
