The town hall of the city of Bensheim has been located in the former episcopal seminary since 1983. This is a listed cultural monument. The building complex of the former episcopal seminary is located north of the city center at the intersection of Kirchbergstrasse and Wilhelmstrasse. The solid construction was erected in 1899/1900.
Only ten years after completion was the building plastered and the interior decorated. The reason for the late completion was the high construction costs. Under pressure from the National Socialists, the Konvikt was closed in 1939 and converted into a hospital. After the end of the Second World War it was used as accommodation for displaced persons until 1949. The St. Bonifatius school dormitory was then housed in the former episcopal seminary. It was closed by the professorship in 1981 for cost reasons. The city of Bensheim acquired the building complex and carried out extensive conversions inside so that most of the city administration could move from the Rodensteiner Hof to the new town hall. The former chapel is now used as a boardroom.
