The place, which was probably founded by Franconian settlers, was first mentioned in 1317 in the Count of Henneberg's hall book. During this time he was part of the Eisfeld office of the County of Henneberg.[2]On September 8, 1875, a major fire destroyed 5 residential buildings with stables and outbuildings. Another fire destroyed 8 houses with 6 barns and outbuildings on August 24, 1893. 16 local men died in the First World War. A war memorial was erected in their honor in 1928. In 1886 the town received a train station on the Eisfeld–Schönbrunn narrow-gauge railway.
In 1973 the narrow-gauge railway was shut down and dismantled. Motorway 73 near Brno was built in 2004 and opened to traffic in 2008.Source:de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Br%C3%BCnn/Th%C3%BCr.
