The municipal port of Strande is the first marina on the west bank of the fjord when entering the Kiel Outer Fjord. The formerly old fishing port is now a popular sport boat harbor with seven jetties, 350 berths for sailing and motor boats with a water depth of 2.6 - 4.0 meters. The sheltered harbor offers a good infrastructure with two slipways, a ship and mast crane, a boat filling station and the shipyard of the Kiel Yacht Club.

Kiel Fjord (Danish: Kiel Fjord and Kielerfjorden) is a narrow fjord on the Baltic Sea, around 17 kilometers long, which was created by glacier movements in the last ice age. It lies between the landscapes of Dänischer Wohld in the west and Wagrien in the east and stretches from its southern end, the Hörn next to the city center of Kiel, to the outer fjord, which merges into the Kiel Bay. At the "Friedrichsorter Enge" the fjord, which forms a natural deep-water harbor, is only one kilometer wide and was previously secured by the Friedrichsort fortress.

The expansive panorama over the Kiel Fjord showcases both at their best. There's always something to marvel at here. Be it the calm sea, the sunrise from the west shore or the sunset from the east shore, the maritime activity on the water, or the large ships approaching the lock, and so on 💙...
