Built in the 19th century, the Barré bridge is an Angers structure located on the Layon between the municipalities of Beaulieu-sur-Layon and Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay.
This communication channel was a strategic place during the Vendée wars, and will be the scene of several confrontations in the 18th century, including the battle of Pont-Barré or Combat de Beaulieu. In September 1793, the Republican troops occupied the heights dominating the Barré bridge, on the Layon, and regained control of the passage despite the royalist defense.
