Nice complex with a large park and the ruin on the rock. In Keilerland you can also eat well and get schnapps from the distillery.

In 1101 a fortified structure above Nörtens was mentioned for the first time, which served as an overview point for the intersecting traffic routes. It was founded by the Archdiocese of Mainz after the completion of the Christianization of the eastern area, which is why it is also called "Mainz House".

In the 13th century castle men were hired for protection and administration, to whom the castle was pledged in 1287. Among them were some members of the von Hardenberg family in 1357, to whom the castle still belongs to this day. In 1403, through inheritance contracts within the family, not only the von Hardenberg family divided into two camps, but also the castle complex into two residences or castles:
      - The newer, northern part of the castle complex, the so-called front building
      - The first part of the castle from 1100, the so-called rear building

Around 1840 many renovation efforts were made, with the drawbridge, the entrance gate and a new tower being built in the neo-Romanesque style. Today it is the landmark of the castle.
Since 1962, more fortification work has been carried out in order to preserve the castle as a monument for future generations!

The ruin is no longer freely accessible because of dilapidation. It is located above the grain distillery Hardenberg and can be reached via several routes. The history of the castle goes back to the 11th century.
