The spring here, bordered with basalt stones, offers a very good opportunity to refresh yourself in front of the treeless summit of the Wasserkuppe or to fill up with drinking water! Unfortunately, at the moment (in the hot summer, August 2022) again only a trickle 😢

The stream, also known as "Gersfelder Wasser" in the upper reaches, flows from the spring, which is surrounded by basalt stones, through a channel and further down towards Gersfeld. After 220 kilometers, the Fulda then joins the Werra near Hannoversch-Münden to form the Weser. Strictly speaking, there are actually two Fulda springs. The water that springs from the place now known as the Fulda spring is piped there from the overflow of the actual springs. Source: wasserkuppe.net/fuldaquelle
