The church was built in medieval times, almost certainly in the first half of the fourteenth century, when it must have been in Romanesque-Gothic style.
Over the following centuries, the religious building underwent a series of renovations, carried out in different eras, which completely changed its original appearance. In the eighteenth century the major expansion changes were made. The bell tower, despite having been raised in subsequent eras, has remained almost unchanged over time, retaining most of the medieval stylistic elements.
