The memorial commemorates Heinrich Weffer (1855–1912), who was an important figure for local forestry and hunting. He was a royal chief forester and worked in the former Wendeburg Forestry Office. The memorial stone is located in the forest area north of Wendeburg, in an area often referred to as "Meerdorfer Holz" or generally as part of the Wendeburg Feldmark.
