Water tower and waterworks of the pulp mill
(today Essity)
The idyllic facility on the Alter Frankfurter Weg, a historic postal route in the Käfertal Forest east of Mannheim-Blumenau, consists of a pump house, boiler house, water tower, stable building and residential building. The water tower, built on a square ground plan, is directly connected to the pump house. Between the pump house and the boiler house is the lower part with the former mechanical workshop. The technical buildings are empty today. The bathroom and toilet extension has since been demolished.
All the buildings are made of yellow brick, stand on red sandstone blocks and have gabled roofs. The technical structures have a special design claim due to their segmental arch lintels, some of which are made of red clinker. The windows of the residential building are partly framed with lintels and sandstone sills.

Interesting building complex. It's a shame it's falling apart like that!
