The statue of the "Contente mens" has become the symbol of the national character in the Kempen. In earlier times, the people of Kempen had to work hard for a meager income.
Despite this hard existence, they did not complain, were content with what they had and accepted life as it came.
The inhabitants of the Kempen still cherish the good things in life and exude great satisfaction.
