From the main street of the village of Carona, a short walk leads to the Romanesque church of Santa Marta, which stands on a hill and was expanded and remodeled towards the end of the 17th century. The original building forms the atrium of the current church. On the façade you can see the remains of a fresco depicting Saint Christopher. The single-nave church has two side chapels and a choir, which is separated from the nave by the main altar. The right side chapel is decorated with frescoes from the second half of the 15th century, which can be attributed to Cristoforo da Seregno.

The Church of Santa Marta is a building of fifteenth-century origin which stands in the street of the same name, located in the Carona woods. From the church garden you can see a beautiful glimpse of the town of Carona.

The ancient part of the building is embellished with valuable frescoes by
late Gothic period, already the subject of a partial restoration which took place in 1947.
The organ, probably from the Lombard school, is one of the few examples preserved in
Ticino: the recovery of this instrument of proven historical value constitutes
        an important opportunity for study.
