Johann Baptist Modler was the fourth and youngest child of the respected cloth-making family of Johann Adam Modler and his wife Regina from Hohenfels in Upper Palatinate and was baptized on May 30, 1697 in the parish church there. He first learned the cloth making trade from his father. This profession required color sense, taste and knowledge of ornaments. After his apprenticeship, Modler went on the move because it was not possible to secure a sufficient income for all children in his father's workshop. So he came to Obernberg am Inn, where he entered the service of the cloth maker Josef Groll and on November 11, 1729 married his 19-year-old daughter Maria Theresia, who gave him three sons, Johann Kaspar (1730), Melchior Georg Josef (1732) and Balthasar Modeler (1735) gave. In 1736, Modler left Obernberg and moved with his family to Kößlarn, where his wife gave birth to eight more children.

Because Modler could not support a family with his art alone, even in Kößlarn, his wife ran a grocery store on the side. That is why he is often referred to as "Stukhadorer and Kramer".

From here you can let it run downhill. Turn left at the end of the town, then you will get back to the Innweg.
