Gerakas Beach is the southernmost and one of the most beautiful sandy beaches. It is located on the Vasilikos peninsula and is particularly known for its unspoiled nature and as an important nesting site for the endangered loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta).
As the beach is part of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, strict protection rules apply here:
Access is only permitted from 7:00 AM until sunset, so as not to disturb the nesting turtles.
No watersports: Motorized watersports are prohibited, which makes the beach particularly quiet.
