Around 1120 a moated castle was built in Adelsdorf. It stood next to the old parish church on the Aischwiesen and was repeatedly damaged in 1430 during the Hussite War, as well as in the Peasants' War in 1525 and in the subsequent turmoil of war. It was leveled by 1666 at the latest. In 1592, the Stiebars built the original horseshoe-shaped castle that still exists today. In 1826 the central building was given a stepped gable. In 1836 the dilapidated right wing of the palace was demolished.
