The church was probably built between 1705 and 1710 on the site of a previous building. The pastor at the time was Kaspar List. Construction of the tower was completed on October 1, 1709. A document in the tower cap describes the burdens imposed on the population during the Northern War (1700–1721) by the special taxes imposed by Charles XII.
The church was painted in 1751. An arch under the choir, crowned with a head of the Virgin Mary, is said to have come from a pilgrimage altar in the old church.

Hiking
The 300-year-old Baroque church is worth seeing. Parts of the Romanesque predecessor can still be found there. The late Gothic carved altar from the early 16th century with its wooden figures is noteworthy.
