Gottlob Haag's father (Wilhelm Haag) lived here and was a basket maker.

It used to belong to the large Leidenberger farm (Andreas Zobel, circa 1650).

Since the farm was located on a stream, a cellar was not possible due to the groundwater from the stream.

Without a cellar, it was impossible to store food for long periods of time.

This small house with a cellar was built for the retirement home of the old farmer and his wife.

The house was not built until after 1833.

The front part shows the former house.

The new building behind it was added around 1980.

Behind the house was a water basin (4x7m) in which bundles of willow were watered. After watering, the willows were flexible and easy to work with.

Behind the water basin was a wooden barn.

In the barn was a room where baskets were woven.

Also in the barn was a goat pen where about 7 goats were kept.

The fodder was cut from the roadside with a scythe and transported home in a wooden wheelbarrow.

Gottlob Haag grew up in poverty.
