Hveravellir Geothermal Area

This exciting high-temperature field is located in the middle of the Icelandic highlands, at road 35. Hot springs, solfatars, mud pots and a hotpot.
All sights can be reached safely on well-maintained wooden walkways.
There is also a restaurant with simple dishes.

I found it very impressive and due to the location the place wasn't too crowded, which I personally enjoyed very much. The hot pot was nice too, but the pipes run above ground which destroys the charm a bit. There are no changing rooms, which didn't bother me. The food in the café was delicious and there are homemade cakes. I like this place very much and am already looking forward to the next runs and hikes.

In the sulphurous springs you can take a bath. Or walk a short distance through the area and find strange lava rock formations like a nearly round hill.
