803/826 The first mention of a church in Ragaz dates back to 803 (Churer Urbar) and 826 (proclamation by Bishop Victor).
843 Mention of the church of Ragaz in Codex Sangallensis 609 of the Abbey Library of St. Gallen.
1209 St. Pankratius is mentioned for the first time as the patron saint of the church. Saint Pankraz died as a martyr in Rome in 304. He is considered the protector of the oaths and is one of the 14 Holy Helpers. He was patron of the parish of Ragaz until 1702.
1703 Construction of today's church under Abbot Bonifaz Tschupp I. Coat of arms above the main portal. Pastor is Dean Melchior Weber, who bears the main burden of the costs. Builder Ulrich Lang, Sargans. Carvers: Master Rosencrantz, Hans Jakob Locher, Johannes Kolhaupt, Franz Bislin. Choir stalls: Johann Müller from Feldkirch.
1952/53 exterior renovation. Redesign of the tower in its present form. Extension of the sacristy. Reconstruction of the lobby.
1993/1994 total restoration. The main changes were new underfloor heating and paving, removal of wood paneling and reconstruction of the pilaster bases. The exterior of the church has been refreshed.
