The Bismarckturm Hattingen is an observation tower in the south of the city of Hattingen on the Schulenberg. The construction of the Bismarck Tower was decided by the Hattingen City Council in 1899. The laying of the foundation stone was celebrated on July 17, 1900, and the tower, made of Ruhr sandstone, was inaugurated on Bismarck's birthday on April 1, 1901. The tower was planned by architect Christoph Epping with a height of 16 m, but was only built with a height of 11 m for cost reasons. The entrance is spanned by a hall.
The tower offers a view of Hattingen's old town, Winz-Baak and the Ruhr valley. The office towers of downtown Essen can be seen further away.

Nice vantage point on Hattingen. Unfortunately the tower is not accessible.

🗼1899 Construction of the Bismarck Tower on the Hohenstein (182 m above sea level) began.
The wooden observation tower that still stood at this location was demolished because it had become dilapidated🗼.
Unfortunately, the public also had to put up with a few mistakes here:
In 2004, the tower was damaged due to vandalism.
The building was renovated by 2007.
The entrance for inspection was blocked by a steel grille door.
