The Werra Valley Museum in Gerstungen has been a regional museum for 90 years. Founded by former teacher and local historian Arno Volland (1888-1968), it is located in the premises of the former castle. Objects of rural and handicraft life are presented. The exhibition on Werra ceramics and textile crafts deserves a special mention. But also the geological department, rural furniture and traditional costumes as well as technical equipment of the Gerstungen train station can be admired. And on the model of the castle you can see how the former castle was once protected by moats on three sides. Opening hours see photo.
