It is fed by the same source as the Vieille fountain. We do not know the origin of its construction, but its renovation in 1812 corresponds to the development of wash houses in the 19th century, responding to the increase in the population and the awareness of hygiene and sanitation needs.
The laundries were used to wash small laundry, using inclined surfaces for soaping and brushing. It was of course necessary to respect the order of the basins, the top one being reserved for rinsing while soaping was carried out in the other two.
