The Snip is an octagonal windmill of the ground sailor type that serves as a polder mill. The mill is located in It Heidenskip, close to the town of Workum. It was restored in 1977. The upper shaft of the Kolthofpolder mill in Oosterbierum, which fell over in 1972, was used.
The blades have a flight of 15.30 meters; the blade shape is Old Dutch. The scenic value of the mill is very great.
The mill's auger broke down in 2009. After the auger was replaced in November 2010, the Snip is again able to drain the polder independently.
