The chapel commissioned by Louis XIV for the garrison and dedicated to Saint Louis was transformed in 1722 and returned to the cult of Saint Christopher. In 1956, the architect Joseph André offered him a sumptuous glass mosaic, a unique work in Belgium, produced by the Venetian masters of the Orsoni house after drawings by Jean Ransy and depicting the Apocalypse according to Saint John. It is made up of millions of squares of colored glass or covered with gold leaf.

Beautiful special church in the heart of Charleroi. The original building was built in 1667, when the French army took the city and built a garrison chapel dedicated to Saint Louis. Only a memorial stone remains of this, bricked into the portal and recalling the foundation. In the 18th century the building was enlarged and dedicated to the veneration of Saint Christopher. The choir (1723) and part of the nave (1778-1781) (architect Flavion) of this baroque building have survived time.

The square in front of the church is currently a single construction site.
