The Dominique Alexandre Godron garden is the first botanical garden in Nancy. It retained its botanical vocation until 1993. Afterwards, the collections were moved to the current Jean-Marie Pelt Botanical Garden.
Now, the garden, with an educational vocation, aims to show the public horticultural collections of labeled plants, intended for floral ornament in gardens. It bears the name of the famous botanist doctor, Dominique Alexandre Godron. The latter was the director of this garden in the second half of the 19th century.

Among the 61 trees in this garden, you will be able to admire an Osage orange tree, a twisting beech tree, a tree with forty crowns (whose leaves inspired some of the artists of the Nancy School), a Virginia tulip tree or even a large American walnut.

In 2010, this site was awarded the “Remarkable Garden” label, for its composition, its landscape integration, the presence of remarkable elements and its botanical interest. Then in October 2014, it also became one of the three “Remarkable Tree Ensembles” nationally. The A.R.B.R.E.S. association wanted to salute the diversity, the botanical interest of the trees present and the daily management of this natural space in the city.
