The ban pole in the shape of a sandstone obelisk on a pedestal dates from 1835. The ban pole marks the jurisdiction of the seigniory of Obdam over that of Hensbroek. The names of these villages can be found on the sides of the obelisk. Obdam's coat of arms on the front. The obelisk is topped by a so-called flame pot. The villages of Obdam and Hensbroek were for centuries part of the same seigniory, which was owned by the family of Wassenaer (also: Van Wassenaer van Obdam). It was not until 1781 that the then (craftsman) master sold Hensbroek. Thus, there was talk of two areas under different jurisdiction. It is plausible that a simpler border post stood on the site of the current ban post, to mark the jurisdiction of Obdam on the one hand and Hensbroek on the other. Due to the revision of the legal system in the French period, border markers of this kind became in fact superfluous. This Obdam-Hensbroek banpost looks brand new. This is thanks to a fairly recent restoration. The banpaal is a national monument.
