Benkenteich

Here you can still find peace and relaxation and with a bit of luck you can watch the kingfisher and other waterfowl.

The water sprite at the Benkenteich near Torgau. The legend: A man from Klitzschen had collected firewood in the forest. Then a handsome rider came riding towards him on a large horse, with a large gauntlet in his hand, who greeted the woodcutter and asked if he knew the Benkenteich. When the man replied that he knew the pond, the rider promised him a tip if he would go with him and show him the place.
When they came to the Benkenteich, the rider jumped off his horse and said:
"I am a water man, and my wife has been kidnapped by another water man. I have searched for her in many waters and lakes all over the world, but found nowhere, and now I am to find her in such a nasty and wild place !
