Before these cast iron signposts were the wooden signposts.
These were not reliable and were replaced by the cast-iron signposts around 1863 for military reasons.
Most of the cast-iron signposts were made by the royal ironworks in Wasseralfingen and cost around 6 guilders.
After the end of the upper offices around 1936, this type of signpost was no longer used.
