Roßwein's last steam engine
The steam engine was manufactured by Hannoversche Maschinenbau AG Hanomag in 1911 for the cloth makers' guild in Roßwein (Krondorf & Metzler) and installed in the boiler house specially built for this purpose.The steam engine was not put out of operation until 1978, but not dismantled. From 2011, the steam engine damaged by the Freiberger Mulde flood in 2002 was able to be repaired by an association.The special thing about the steam engine in Roßwein is:It is the last surviving steam engine in RoßweinThe original steam boiler is presentit is a unique technical cultural asset in Germanyshe is the 2012 monument award winner of the Mittelsachsen districtThe DMVR association has succeeded in completely restoring the steam engine, including the original steam boiler. On selected days and special events, the heating is on and the boiler is put under steam.
