The steam engine was manufactured by Hannoversche Maschinenbau AG Hanomag in 1911 for the cloth makers' guild in Roßwein (Krondorf & Metzler) and installed in the boiler house specially built for this purpose.
The steam engine was not put out of operation until 1978, but not dismantled. From 2011, the steam engine damaged by the Freiberger Mulde flood in 2002 was able to be repaired by an association.
