Opposite the Fritz Reuter Monument, also not far from the train station, is the Fritz Reuter Fountain, now called the Mudder Schulten Fountain. It shows "Dörchläuchting" (Duke Adolf Friedrich IV of Mecklenburg-Strelitz) and the baker's wife "Mudder Schulten". The situation at the fountain is said to have happened in 1771.

The sculptor Wilhelm Jäger created in 1923 the group of figures from a 250-hundred -weight shell limestone block.On the fountain, a scene from the Humoreske "Dörchläuchting" by Fritz Reuter was redesigned. The baker's wife Mudder Schulten urges Dörchläuchting (Adolf Friedrich IV, Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz) to pay the bill for delivered baked goods.
