The 'Ravelijn op den Zoom' is one of the few remains of the famous fortifications of Bergen op Zoom. The Bergse fortress was an important part of the Zuiderwaterlinie.

In 1931, the Ravelin on den Zoom was already restored. The earthen dam that was there at the time made way for a wooden bridge with an access gate. But many trees and shrubs grew on the ravelin. They were removed in 2014. As a result, you can see the original shape again. At the end of 2018, the ravelin was renovated again.
