The Amtspforte is a landmark of Stadthagen and a successful example of the approximately 500-year-old wooden architecture. Originally built as an office building and used as a residential building from 1900, the building has housed the city museum for around 50 years.
It shows urban and regional history on three levels. The interplay of historical architecture and contemporary museum design is characteristic here.
The museum is located in the immediate vicinity of one of the largest and oldest Weser Renaissance castles and the castle park on the one hand and the beginning of the pedestrian zone on the other.
