Above the Vltava valley is one of the most famous rock formations - Čertova stěna (Devil's Builder).

The Devil's Wall rises above the once-famous Devil's Streams of the Vltava River between Loučovice and Vyšší Brod. The protected area Čertova stěna was connected with the nature reserve Luč to the nature reserve Devil's Wall - Luč.

The Devil's Wall is a wild rocky cliff with chaotic granite boulders. Around pine and birch trees, often very unusual shapes. Above the valley is a 30-meter-high boulder - the Devil's Pulpit, from which there is a beautiful view of the romantic Vltava River. The ensemble was inspired by B, Smetana, who performed the libretto by E. Krásnohorská in his opera Čertova stěna. Under the Teufelsmauer, the Vltava flows through a rock channel called the Teufelsbach. The river bed is filled with massive boulders, in which huge pots up to 1 m in diameter have emerged.

Several legends are associated with the Teufelsmauer. The most common story tells about the devil who wanted to destroy the newly built monastery near Vyšší Brod: he made a stone dam across the valley and flooded the monastery. But the fateful night did not end the work, and with its dawn its time was up. The stone dam collapsed and the boulders hit the riverbed and blanketed the surrounding slopes. In fact, the Teufelsmauer was created by the glacier.

The Devil's Wall is available in the parking lot by the Vyšší Brod - Loučovice road, and there is a marked hiking and cycling trail on the opposite bank of the Vltava River. There are also signs here.
