As part of the fully preserved fortifications, the gate is a listed building and its current appearance reflects the structural condition in the first half of the 14th century.
In 1860 the now dilapidated gate was renewed and converted into a granary. The roof was enlarged and fitted with a winch. It was now possible to load goods directly into newly created hatches on the northern side.
The three floors of the gate are used as exhibition space.
