Cycling
The place was first mentioned in the 14th century as Ypolshof. The place name is said to be derived from a farm located there. Locally, the place is called Hippo or simply dörrep (village). In the 19th and 20th centuries, it was known as Little Paris because of its many cafés and the extensive nightlife that accompanied them, which reached its peak during Carnival season. During the 1960s, the number of cafés declined. In 2021, there are only two.
