The walls of Sassari are the remains of the medieval fortifications of the city, begun in the XIII century by the Pisans, and subsequently modified by the Genoese and the Aragonese. They completely surrounded the old town and were interspersed with watchtowers or defense towers and entry gates.
Today, private houses (built in the nineteenth century after the demolition of most of the town's fortification) are usually inserted in the walls.
Currently it is possible to visit (only externally) what remains of the walls, in particular along Corso Trinità, corso Vico and in via Torretonda.
