The "Nonomiya Shrine" is a small shrine near the famous "Tenryuji Temple". It is surrounded on all sides by the "Chikurin", the beautiful bamboo forest of Arashiyama.The "Nonomiya Shrine" already appears as a backdrop in the classic novel "The Tale of Genji" from the 11th century.
