The city's oldest fountain is the Ludwigsbrunnen (Ludwig Fountain) on Paradeplatz. Its original location was in front of the old town hall. The fountain, inaugurated in 1881, was designed by Munich sculptor Professor Michael Wagmüller and cost 15,000 marks at the time. The fountain figure depicts Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian, who resided in Ingolstadt from 1310 to 1314. The column supporting the figure is decorated with the city's coat of arms and an image of St. Maurice, patron saint of Ingolstadt's oldest parish church.ingolstadt.de/stadtmuseum/scheuerer/ing/brunn-15.htm
