The beginning of the 2nd millennium - the 15th century. the hill, surrounded on three sides by the Liaudė stream - one of the most beautiful corners of the Krekenava regional park, from which a great panorama opens. The Bakainiai mound complex is a castle hill with two forts and protective ramparts, in the bend of the Liaudė river, a tributary of the Nevėžis river. The people even surround the steep slopes of the mound from three sides. The mound, dating from the beginning of the 2nd millennium - the 15th century, commemorates the birth of the Lithuanian state - it is assumed that the center of Upytė land was here. Some researchers believe that the castle of Eignitas, burned by the Crusaders in 1372, was here, others tend to identify the mound with Sosias mentioned in historical sources. The inhabitants of the mound who moved to Annapilin were buried nearby, in the cemetery behind the stream. The pearl of the regional park and the whole Kėdainiai region - Bakainai mound in 1997. entered in the register of immovable cultural values of the Republic of Lithuania, recognized as protected by the state in 2005, and in 2007 - included in the list of cultural heritage sites with exceptional cultural value.
