Impressive ruins of an old farmhouse (probably 19th century). The site would have been occupied since the 16th century, by agricultural monks then also for a mining activity (coal) until 1913.
The name is that of this former Loire island, Desert, a probable reference to the very isolated character (still today) of the place.
There is a beach below and a little further you can admire the impressive Alleud railway bridge.
