There was probably a sanctuary on this spot for a long time. However, it is unclear when a church was first built here. The church was first mentioned in 1275. The patronage of the church, i.e. the prayers of intercession, etc., was owned by the Schmalegg tavern. Shortly thereafter, the patronage of the church passed to the House of Königsegg and then to the Altshausen Commander-in-Chief, where it was incorporated before 1508.
