Lake Bianco
Reservoir on the Bernina Pass between the Valposchiavo and the uppermost side valley of the Engadine
The reservoir at the Bernina Pass is fed with glacier milk (glacial water containing silt). This gives the lake its milky, whitish color. Lago Bianco is also a watershed; the water flows eastwards into the Black Sea and southwards into the Adriatic Sea. The famous Bernina Express of the Rhaetian Railway, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, winds its way along the bank.

A beautiful mountain lake. It marks the watershed between the Danube and the Black Sea and the Po and the Mediterranean. An easy road leads along both sides of the lake to the dam at the southern end, from where you can either descend into the Poschiavo valley via Alp Grüm or ascend to Sassal Mason.
