The parish and former collegiate church was first mentioned in a document in 894. In its current appearance, the late Gothic church with a Romanesque core served as a translation of the relics of the martyrs Primus and Felicianus. From the end of the 9th century it was the original parish and mission center of the diocese of Freising in Carinthia. Due to its romantic location on the lake, the church is one of the most popular confirmation and wedding churches in Carinthia.
