The Almsee is a mountain lake in the Upper Austrian part of the Salzkammergut. The nutrient-poor lake, with its largely natural shores and strongly structured vegetation belt, with adjacent wetlands, offers habitats for many animal and plant species. It represents a relatively intact ecosystem and the area has been a nature reserve since 1965. The lake is owned by the Kremsmünster Abbey.
