A mammoth project: Since December 16, 2017, the steepest funicular in the world travels from Schwyz to the Stoos. Everything you need to know about the new funicular:
110 percent = 47 degrees maximum slope overcomes the Stoosbahn. World record! No other funicular in the world is steeper.
1500 passengers per direction of travel can be transported in one hour. This is 500 more passengers than the old funicular.
3 - 5 minutes driving time. Significantly less than the old funicular. But even more important: The mountain station of the new funicular railway is located in the middle of the village, right next to the ski area - a clear benefit for you!
744 meters in altitude, the train climbs from Schwyz-Schlattli to the Stoos. The best thing about it: thanks to the automatic leveling of the cabins, you are always standing on a horizontal surface - very comfortable!
The distance from the valley station to the mountain station is 1740 meters.
34 people holds a cabin. With four cabins per car this results in a capacity of 136 persons per trip.
The planning and realization period lasted 14 years, during which eleven votes were won.

Always impressive when you drive this train. Due to the slope compensation, the 5-minute ride is super easy.

The steepness is almost unbelievable and the cabins turn accordingly and are therefore always aligned .....!
