The history of the airfield officially began in 1955 with the founding of the Hessian Sport and Transport Airport GmbH. Back then, there was only one grass runway, the so-called Texas runway. Today, Egelsbach Airport is one of the busiest airfields in Germany, with more than 80,000 takeoffs and landings a year. It's definitely worth a visit; there's plenty to see. With a bit of luck, you might even run into a celebrity.
