Gouermel Cove is a natural site bordered to the south by marshes which are home to rich biodiversity. The landscape is marked by numerous rocks and islets which protect the cove and give it its unique visual identity.

The beach welcomes many families. A picnic area is set up around the bay.

The municipal boundary with Penvénan follows the meanderings of a stream which flows into the bay of Gouermel and formerly flooded a freshwater marsh separated from the sea by a line of pebbles and sand. The drainage of this space, and the outlet provided to running water by a nozzle under the cordon, equipped with a valve, previously allowed the reclamation of this space, which has today evolved into a wet meadow. More recently, the cordon served as the basis for a road, for the protection of which several disjointed blocks were put in place which it is difficult to describe as riprap. The sandy beach, once suitable for vehicles, has lost its sand due to wave reflections and turbulence caused by this supply of blocks. As a result, the cord itself is weakened. The loss of this sediment is even more marked near the crossroads of the road which goes down through Kermerrien: there was a small maritime marsh there on a mound of pebbles veiled in mud. He is now dying. Part of this area has been divided by wooded embankments and tends to become overgrown, while the central part, north of the Gouermel manor, has remained in open meadow. Both areas, however, remain at risk of flooding in the event of a break in the barrier, while the frequent use of the beach justifies more careful management.
